It was... about a year ago I got rid of my DB9 and went back to an M5 and actually I miss it... can’t tell you why! We all know the M5 is way quicker, more comfortable SOOOO much better equipped than a DB9. But it’s just not an Aston! I’ve spent the last 2 months umming and erring over what to get into next and decided to keep the M5 for everyday use given I do around 35,000 miles with work the DB9 is REALLY not a nice place to do that many miles. I narrowed it down to DBS, Murcilargo, or Mercedes SLS and ended up with a DB9 Volante smile Lambo is bit too brutual, bit too thuggish! The SLS is amazing but almost bland again, The DBS... it’s wonderful and I came soo close to putting my deposit down on Saturday, but then really, is it worth another £50-£60k over a DB9? I guess the DBS owners will say yes.

SO long story short I decided to take advantage of being based in Southampton and instead of spending £100k on a DBS bought a nice boat for the weekends away instead and then sorted myself a 2005 (55) DB9 Volante - best of both worlds I think smile

Will post some piccys when I pick her up Friday after Tim from Trinity has finished the inspection!

Couple of questions, if someone could point me in the right direction!

Glass “drive buttons” I replaced these previously from the plastic ones to a glass finish, but can’t remember for the life of me WHERE I found these?!
Alloy replacement knobs for the plastic ones, stereo and climate controls, I think was Tony Hall?! Will PM him!
Clear rear lamps, I know sourced them from a recommendation here and had Trinity fitted them, but can’t seem to find the post relating to these? Can someone advise please?

Many thanks in advance and happy to be back smile

Boats and Astons......life doesn't get much better......or expensive! Where you planning to moor the boat?

Love your logic, welcome back. Bamford Rose will sort your glass switches , apparently mine are being replaced on my next visit. So far I have one which adjusts the suspension. Some more I think would be nice!

Buying a boat with excess funds makes excellent sense.....it will make the running costs of the Aston seem like loose change! Congratulations on your new toys enjoy. smile

Either Mercury marina Hamble or Ocean Village. Both are perfect for weekends away. It’s only a 2003 Sealine F33, but with the fly bridge gives perfect living space and a really pleasant place to be. Engines are only twin 220bhp diesels so not excessive speed but coming from a sailing background I’ll be delighted to be doing more than 6 knots AND not be over at 45 degrees smile

Welcome back to the Aston fold Mark.
Boats?
everytime I mention it I get dragged off to have a freezing cold shower fully clothed and made to rip up ten pound notes. Apparently the experience is similar but less costly.

OOOOO that's a beautiful boat! I REALLY like the "S" class but with a 33 there isn't enough living/accomodation space and the "F" just makes weekends away better. Give it a couple of years and I'd love an S43 or a princess V42 smile I'll be sure to look for you for a tour smile
