Don't know if anyone else has noticed - Chris Hopkinson is going for the LeJoGLe record. End to end - and back. Started this morning and he's done about 175 miles in the first 12 hours. Currently at about 18mph around Bristol area.

I'd love to do this one way - but both - non stop - mad ! Good luck to the man though - if anyone can do this it has to be this man. Needs to be back to Lands End before sunrise on Monday morning by my calculations.

(If you look at the online tracker from his website the clocks haven't been changed - still on winter time - just to keep everyone on their toes.)

Chapeau even for the attempt. I'd love to know the secrets of dealing with the sleep deprivation from a true non-stop effort. The hallucinatory stuff you get on RAAM sounds pretty grim. I suspect he'll be getting into some of that in a day or so.

I'm aiming for a (relatively very gentle) sub 80hr LEL in the summer, which includes a few 2 hour kips, as well as lots of short food breaks, but I'm aware when I did a 400km recently, my vision went weird. I'm going to try a no-sleep 600 in June to see if I have it in me to do the first 600 of lel non-stop to give myself more of a buffer. I fell asleep on the bike on the last 600 I did, so I am clearly doing something wrong.

It looks like he has had a three hour stop in the middle of the night. Up in the midlands now and heading for 310+ miles in his first 24 hours.

I just hope he's on strava!

Amazing stuff, makes my plan to do London to Chester in two days look like a pansies trip to the shops.

That would be considered a lengthy break on RAAM, right? I've done 600s with 4 hr and 2hr breaks, and didn't feel any difference.

It'll have been hilly so far, exclaiming the relatively modest mileage.

Well RAAM 2013 has kicked off.

I hope Hoppo has a good run at this. I was pretty sad that the LeJogLe record didn't work out.
