Cooling fan/voltage problem

I posted a couple of threads recently regarding a couple of problems I was having. The cooling fans were not kicking in and the voltage reading on the dash kept dropping to around 12 volts and then jumping back up.
Today I fitted a new water temp sensor and it seems to have cured both these problems. The idle speed has also increased back to 8-900, where it was after the service. The job took about an hour all told and the sensor was 12 quid from TMS. Not sure why it was affecting the voltage but so far so good.

Yes I fitted it myself and the longest bit is getting the bonnet off. Take the top of the air filter off and it's just above and right of the ignition unit. It's easy to get out and back in with a shortish 19mm ring spanner.
Replacing it has also stopped my car smelling of petrol quite so much and it's definitely running more smoothly. Result.

I just rang and asked for it by name. They sent it in a jiffy bag through the post and it arrived next day.
It's the same part they have listed for the Cerbera sp6 if they're not sure. The guy I spoke to had to check with the factory.
