Should I come back to the fold?
Discussion
Having previously owned an S3 and then speed six Cerbera I find myself being tempted to come back to the fold and inparticular because I spotted this in the classifieds which is very similar to the one I had (and loved) before:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
My head is saying no as my previous one cost a lot to maintain and did need a top end rebuild, clutch and other bits seeing to but I do far less miles now and assume the speed six engine is likely to be a little stronger as a result of various upgrades.
So what does everyone think, bad idea or go for it. Anyone done similar and care to share their thoughts / experiences?

On my 3rd TVR, a Speed6 Cerbera, 21000 miles and no rebuild. Flirted with AMG Mercs etc for a while after a Chim and a Griff 500 - before admitting to myself I had made a mistake in leaving. Won't be making the same mistake again, good ones are getting rarer by the day, have a feeling if you don't get back in soon it will be to late
As for the whole AJP/S6 thing my reasoning is sure the AJP is less likely to go bang, however parts for a S6 are likely to be more readily available in the future and at worst if needed Dom and others can sort it out once and for all (well for 100,000 miles anyway)
And don't expect anything else to cost less, just saw the fear in my mates eyes this morning as the SMG Gearbox yellow warning light has come on on his E46 M3 - currently he can be found praying its the Salmon relay and not the clutch.

I think you should buy it because its mine
Feel free to call / email me if you want to know more.
Would love to but my C4S cab needs to go first but as soon as it does I will be checking to see if yours is still available. My Cerbera was crystal topaz and I just loved the way it looked in the sun!

I will be going in eyes wide open if I do buy another but just want to make sure if I do that's its had recent engine work and that the chassis is as good as is reasonable to expect (not expecting to eat my dinner off it but would want it to be sound!).
How realistic is it to ferry a 4 year old in the back seats? Do I need a specific car seat or will most fit in ok? She can travel in the front wi me most of the time but I'm sure my wife would like to experience the TVR as we weren't together when I had my first two ...
Keep talking me into it as I'm easily led!
Love the colour. Miles better looking that a 911.
I went away in 2004 only to spend the next 8 years fighting the urge. Finally succumbed and bought a Tuscan Vert last year.
Was /am worried about the engine but in the end thought f
k it if it goes bang I'll have to find the money from somewhere right?
What does that sticker on the back of that Sag that's been on here recently? TVR.... Because Porsche are..... (You know the rest).

It will be easier to fit a 4 year old in the back than a 14 year old . . . it's now or never! (I have done a bit of digging re baby seats etc and it all looks possible, not as easy as a people carrier but who cares!) This is my two in the back. The elder one furthest away is 3 years old. They're sat in Jane Montecarlo R1 seats, with "Xtend" impact cushions which are sold with the seats. They're available with or without Isofix. Ours have it for our other cars but they'd probably fit the Cerb a little better without. The Cerbera's rear seatbelts buckle in on the outboard side of the seats so it's reasonably easy to get them in and out.

Anyway, they do fit, as do the original TVR child seats if you can find one, as well as the original Recaro Start which is out of production. The new one looks bigger but I haven't bought one to try it.
Suffice to say, most seats wont fit, but the Montecarlo does and it's both reasonably priced and easily available. It's still a squeeze though so put your child on the passenger side wherever possible.

Whats the details on the CS4 Cab, I know someone who is looking for a 911 around that year at the moment. Ideally he wants a Coupe but might be tempted with a cab if its nice and the price is right
Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to my C4S but ...Edited by PuffsBack on Thursday 4th April 10:01

If that breaks any rules shout and I'll edit the post.
There is something about the Cerbera that if it grabs you, does get under the skin.
I had 2 early models (both Sp6...2nd one Cal. Sage & Topaz) that I did ferry my 4 kids at various ages...and after Griffs, Tuscan and a 360, still came back to them. It's nearly sorted now and I really do lover her already.
It's the only daft car I know my wife to have had a soft spot for and that has also counted for a lot.
She is definitely staying (& the wife...

)Go for it as I had the same dilemma years ago. Owned Kevin Mc Clouds 4.2 after him. My first TiV. Then Pxed for a T350t ex demo car. To be honest that car was a great looker but crap and the most un- reliable car I ever owned or will ever own. P exed for Merc sl 500 that I kept for seven years in total. However in the mean time I missed the Cerb so much that I had to go out and buy another one. A 4.5. I have had this car for quite a few years, but the only problem is having time to use it. Probably will never sell, and still carrying out on going mods. Just received my short induction and chip from Jules to fit next.
