Recommend me a decent Decanter please?

I am after a decanter mainly for whiskey or wine & have spotted these two.

Not cut glass, but the Dartington winemaster carafe is VG - actually improves the wine. They do a good looking spirit decanter too, but I can't find it on their website ATM.

This is by far the nicest, most beautiful and lovely to use decanter I have ever had a glass poured from, but it ain't cheap. Stunning IMHO.

Cheap n cheerful but I like the simplicity , although on reflection, it does look a little laboratory in comparison to the others.

Some great suggestions already & certainly some have caught my eye.

The decanter itself will be on show but also used pretty much & a daily basis (I like the odd glass of red wine) so it has to be something that isn't just an ornemant...

Personally , I think for spirits a good old Ships decanter , takes some beating :

For wine, a claret jug has prescence. particularly at a formal table, IMHO :

At the end of the day its all down to personal preference, and of course decor. No need to spend large amounts of cash if need be, a decanter is a low tech thing, they all do the same thing at the end of the day .

Incidentally, John Lewis do, or did a nice range, worth looking up.

I have this Le Crueset one



The upturned wine holder does look a bit of a gimmick but it works well and is a good talking point.

Even if you dont likle that the decanter itself is excellent and very good quality.

I love the Reidel ones but suspect it would end up smashed.
