Definitely not the only one. But I wouldn't have it any other way to be brutally honest.

much better to have a secret credit card, when I was young my mum used to skim the housekeeping money for treats for us and kept it in a jar. I now do that but for the car.

TVR's are evil, i would never do this for anything else.......

I just give her a quick slap round the chops and tell her who's boss.

Then phone the dentist for repairs to broken teeth.

The other night I was working on one of my cars in the garage when my wife came and stood at the garage door and surveyed my collection. After a few moments she said,
'Maybe we should sell all of the cars and buy one nice one'.
I said 'You sound like my ex-wife'
She said 'I didn't know you'd been married before?'
I said 'I haven't!'
She left.

Finance rules have to be set well early in a relationship. It is very difficult to move the goalposts after the relationship has started. Which is why soon after the wedding ceremony, the same evening in fact, I took off my trousers and threw them at the wife. I told her to put the trousers on. Once she had done this I made it quite clear that this would be the first and the last time she wears the trousers in our house. She then took off her knickers and threw them at me, and told me to put them on. When I said I can never get into these, she replied 'unless you change your attitude you never will!. Consequently I'm still suffering. (Maybe I should never have taken my mate's advice).

My wife complains about how much time and money I spend on the TVR.

In return I don't complain about how much of my time and money I spend on taking a perfectly good kitchen out and replacing it with a new one. (Oh, before I forget, I paid for the first kitchen, too, making sure I bought a quality one that would last.)

Instead I just file it in my head in the "grounds for divorce" section. If it ever comes up, I will have plenty of mental cruelty to cite, to reduce the settlement. ;^)

Where I come from the men make all the rules. As for the Women - they have only one rule.....obey the men.

However, your wife is correct to focus on the holiday kitty, Encourage it, support it, pump every spare penny you have into where ever she wants to go. Then when the time comes to pack the suitcases - tell her you hope she has a lovely holiday only you have decided to stay at home as you have better things to do than to spend every waking hour on the beach on day 2 wishing you were on the road with Jezebel and listening to your wife plotting your next piece of nightmare when you get home....

To be fair it was my decision that it should go, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear so soon after handing the keys over.
Would I get another seac ... at the moment no, as I found it too rare/expensive to be able to enjoy hooning around country lanes. Won't be long until there is a cheap v8 in the garage though.

See, you guys haven't got the art of marriage and negotiation down properly...

We have been married for 35 years, and it's pretty easy. I spend money on my 2 TVRs, she spends money on good holidays (and typically a new kitchen when we move house). And that's agreed and OK, provided neither of us goes TOO mad. I have to help with the gardening and do the washing up, she does the cooking, but then we both know we save money on servicing and repairs to our ordinary car, house repairs, etc, etc..

After getting married we opened her own account a few months later she had a letter from the bank saying she was overdrawn however she said she could not be as there where still checks in her check book ?????? oh if only that was the case.
At that point i knew it was wise to control the finances etc 20 years later very few disagreements over money.
Never asks what i spend when i told her i had bought the car she just said thats nice where is it going to park as her Classic Mini is not giving way in the Garage.
It was only about a month after getting the car she asked how much and when i told her she said thats good she thought it was more.
Very Lucky wobble
