Morris Minor Convertible Question.

This wonderful weather has got me thinking about Moggy Tourers.

Having had a 2dr Minor in the past I quite fancy another and the O/H likes the convertibles.

There must be a fair few out there that have been converted from saloons, does an original command a premium and is there any way to spot a conversion?

There's a huge number of saloons with the roof chopped off, but there are tell tales. From memory, the third letter of the chassis number should be "T" for a genuine convertible (but don't just trust that, plates can be swapped).

Nothing wrong with a properly done saloon conversion, bit cheaper too. Key phrase there being 'properly done'!

The windscreen header rails are different, one is sloping, the other virtually flat. I think the convertible is the flat one.

The boss of the engineering firm I use has just inherited a share of a split screen convertible with very low mileage ( I am pretty sure it is in the 20s)and on the tyres it left the factory on.It needs to be sold so if you are interested pm me and I will put you in touch.
