Figures due to be released later this week will reveal the high number of deaths inflicted by police drivers on emergency calls.

I think this is thrashed out elsewhere...

Does it mean police drivers are getting worse? A possibilty as the falling standards set at recruitment mean you'll get many quasi-scrotes applying "Do l get to 'ave a gun an' stuff?" who have been brought up on a heady mix of Grand Tourismo and Max Power.

Or does it mean that pedestrians/kids are less road aware and walk out into the road whilst texting drivel to their mates?

I'll go for Funkys' option (b). The amount of mindless morons who seem to amble across the road is definitely on the increase.

Car = big heavy metal object

Pedestrian = soft and squishy
