4 weeks until my MCB M5 arrives. Saw my first f10 M5 on the road today. Looked stunning in MCB.
How did the test drive go?
OK covered 250+ miles today with two long stops in between, mixed driving with some town and blasting on mostly open roads, car did 26.2 MPG over the whole distance and 28 MPG on the back half of it. I was Pleased, this was almost the whole journey on this setting: Gearbox 3 : Steering "sport": Suspension "Sport" : Engine "Sport".I set M1 to these settings and drove all day on them. How did the test drive go?
I had to put a Litre of f
king oil in the thing tonight, BMW obviously did NOT check the car over before letting me have it ( this is BMW UK demo fleet )I also changed the tyre pressures last night and the car is much better for it, quieter also.I like it a lot now. Tyre pressures were 32 All round, now set at 38 rear 36 front.
In The heavy traffic stop start did not once "shut the engine off", I have sinse found out that only in "D" will it shut off, works ok now.
.
This is a large car but once you get used to it shrinks around you.
Now I am getting used to the car it feels better and in the settings I have go like stink without too much mental push.
I am playing with the settings to suit my driving.
I have been told by ELMs BMW in Cambridge that BMW do not have any deals on the car now, only the 50/50 purchase deal, half now half later. This I will not go for and if "Listers" don't play ball, I'm out.
I will find out on Monday, if there is a deal I like I'm IN.
I have really taken to this car and MCB is the colour I will go for with silverstone II interior.
Once the revs get past 4K the car goes into mental mode and nails you to the seats ( scared the s
t out of the wife
)PS) pasted a Porsche 4S on the A11 tonight, he was right up my chuff, so I came off the roundabout and BANG three changes and he was miles back
I let him catch up and he just put his thumb up.
SUNDAY: Covered another 100 miles and did mainly low speeds as we were cruising , car returned 28 MPG!!!!, thats still in M1 NOT comfort.
Comfort is for slow speed town work for me anyway.
The new cars coming now should have the latest digital dash and current Sat-Nav which I have in my November F31 330D M sport.
Car goes back tomorrow and the negotiating starts, will let ya know.

You will have one regardless of deals and I look forward to seeing the pictures!!
Glad to hear you're enjoying it. What's the current mileage as I've been told the mpg improves once its properly run in and I'm averaging 20.8 after 500 miles. Was 26+ after 200 high speed m-way miles with the family in the car which is impressive given the size, comfort and performance on tap.

Curent miles 5300 miles, I am driving fairly sensible though, blasting only when I see no "old bill" around and no other cars close, this thing is Soooo fast anyone you approach on the outside lane is liable to pull out in front of you, they just can't estimate the speed this thing produces, it's mental quick.JMRS4 said:

Seems like you've properly enjoyed it. Good luck with the negotiation. They must be desperate to sell these cars now, so I reckon you'll get what you want.I had to put a Litre of f

The MPG is unbelievably good for such a car - this morning, in the worst traffic I've been stuck in for months, it was doing 16.4 mpg, without Start/Stop and not getting out of 1st/2nd gear for just over 45 mins. The moment I got free of the jam, the fuel economy bounced right up again.
It does like to drink a bit of oil - mine had a couple of top ups within the first 2000 miles or so, but now seems to be less thirsty (at just under 3,500 miles).

I must stress ALL my driving is "out of town" I live in Norfolk and the A11 is jst 2 minutes away, the only town work it wold get is whilst traveling, so big difference. If I lived in London there is No way I would want this car.;);)The MPG is unbelievably good for such a car - this morning, in the worst traffic I've been stuck in for months, it was doing 16.4 mpg, without Start/Stop and not getting out of 1st/2nd gear for just over 45 mins.
