Which HDD recorder / DVD player
Discussion
I am heartily sick of there being f
k all on telly between 7-9pm, and too much on at 9. I also have a charming but early rising family, which means that a film that starts at 9 is often impoassible to watch if I don't want to be exhausted the next day. I need an HDD recorder.
Coupled with this, my £19 from Tesco DVD player is getting a bit senile and I thought it would be good to get something that does both jobs. I would therefore be grateful for any recommendations for a combined HDD recorder / DVD player that fulfills the following criteria:
1) Has both HDD recording and a DVD player in the same box.
2) Twin tuners / series link capacity / the usual HDD type goodness
3) Bluray not important as no bluray discs
4) WiFI an advantage (youtube / iplayer etc) but not essential
5) >500GB capacity
6) <£250
It's hard to find one that does all of these (especially point 1) - does anyone have any suggestions?
We don't have Sky+ by the way as we're poor.

Wanted to resurrect this thread. Bought the one suggested from Richer sounds. Was ace at first, and a 1TB drive takes a lot of filling. However, the damn thing now needs retuning every hour (yes, really) and the DVD player is f
ked. Less than 11 months old too.A trip back to the shop beckons. The cost of these things doesn't seem to have come down at all in the last 12 months so if they don't fix it I'll have to get argue-y for a LFL replacement.

Mine's still chugging along OK, but I empathise with the retuning - WTF's all that about?

Don't know but it's driving me mental. Get a dialogue box that fills up the entire screen and requires you to retrieve the remote from wherever my 3 year old twins have hidden it. This can take ages.If you do click OK it takes 3 minutes to retune and it's just unneccessary.
Apart from the DVD issue (the drawer will not open and it won't play anything) it's been great. The slowness of the menu is a bit frustrating, but I can live with that.

I see a compatability issue there.8Ace said:

Daddy switches it off now.
