As per the title really, recently had an extended test drive of a Cayman (booked this two hour drive whilst at the launch evening)i.d only done about half a mile when the "caution remaining range" light came on.So i put £20 in it. When i got back to the dealership i mentioned this but was given the brush off.I know its not a life changing sum of money but the more i think about it the more it pi##es me off.Anyone else out there had similar?

So are you complaining that you had to put fuel in or the light came on? If the light came on you had a few miles left anyway surely you would of seen the petrol gauge when you started off that it was close to E?
I suppose the Garage should of provided some fuel in it for the test drive, maybe not? To be fair i wouldnt of minded putting £20 in just to get out of the car at a garage seeing people look at the Cayman i was getting out of, as i like the look over a 991.

Just haggle a bit harder when you buy one- I take it the test drive otherwise went well?

I think its a bit off that Porsche gave you a car you had to take to the garage to fill up after you had booked a slot.
Cheap and unprofessional. Should be an experience that leaves you beaming in every way if they want your money smile

I reckon in 2 hours unsupervised by a sales agent I can remove at least £100 of tyre tread and brake pad material so I'd be happy to sponsor Porsche with fuel. cool

I guess we all have different expectations.

Personally, I would be perfectly happy to fund the fuel on a 2 hour test drive.

£20 of fuel (3 gals) for a 2 hour drove in a Cayman - you didn't really push it then...

I'd see it as a little off but then I'd make sure I used that £20 of fuel! biggrin

I was given a Cayman S with PDK to try from late Saturday afternoon to Monday morning. The fuel gauge was reading 3/4 full and I was asked to bring the car back with a similar amount of fuel in the tank. This I accordingly did, even putting super unleaded fuel in (at a cost of somewhat more than £20) so the next person could experience the full performance. I considered this very reasonable. The OPC even put my son on the insurance as well so that he could also have a go. He is currently competing in motorsport with a road legal Honda S2000 and thought his Honda had sharper handling than the Cayman. But then his Honda's suspension geometry is set up for the track. Anyway, the Cayman S ticks most of the boxes for me, so I have ordered one.

I had a test drive in a Boxster 'S' the other day and was asked to bring it back with the same fuel level.
Having driven it using the full performance envelope for an hour by myself, I thought it was quite reasonable to put some gogo juice back in.

I still agree with the OP and the above couple of posts were quite different than being given a car to test drive with the fuel light on.
I was given a 997C4S which had a full tank and asked to fill it back up which is totally good. Just think its a bit unprofessional to hand a prospective customer an empty car smile

Agreed - it's not the fact that you'd put fuel 'back' in, it's the fact that there wasn't any to start with.

'Not cool', as they say in Belgium.

What a pointless thread. I was known as Demo Don! Had loads of test rides (bikes and cars). Never minded putting full in before, during or after test FFS man you must have something more important in your life to get pissed off about?...
