Firstly what was it originally about?

Secondly, it's been going on for as long as I've been here. can you guys not sort it out somehow. It's a tad pathetic.

Thirdly, when will it end? Or will we get to the year 2050 when HayMarket has been taken over by Tesco (and CTF will have) but we still won't be able to post links on our iPhone40s.

I fully expect this to be locked and a stay in the sin bin for daring to ask.

Just in case anyone didn't see it originally, the edit in the OP of that thread by Big Al was a link to the forum chew the fat.

I saw that, clicked on it but it was a register to see jobbie.

What was the harm in that link then?

There is some history as I understand it, PH are perfectly entitled to edit out links that are likely to generate more work in the future.

Re-directing traffic away from PH is a no-no (or something).

CTF was set up by another PH member (Gorvid, still posts on here), and he advertised the new forum on here for a load of banned/ disillusioned PHers to go there. People got upset, and that sums it up from what I gathered.

Sticking my neck on the line a bit but here goes.

As I understand the story, there were a number of PH members who requested that a sub forum was set up which would allow them to discuss an online strategy game, the name of which eludes me. This request was refused at the time. (Possibly because an online strategy game was not what PH was trying to promote?) So a new website was set up by a couple of PH members to allow these discussions to take place.

At some point in time, there was a drive on PH to 'clean up' not only the forums but also some of the more risque posts. It became wide knowledge that there was another forum where PH users could go which was slightly more relaxed in it's attitudes. Around the same time there were a number of high profile bans and a general mood that on occasion, the moderation on PH had become slightly heavy handed.

A number of disgruntled ex-PHers made some unwise and probably inflamatory comments on the other site which became known to the powers that be on PH. This obviously didn't go down terribly well with PH even though the fireworks subsequently died down. Gorvid repeatedly stated that CTF is not a rival for PH and that he had, and still has no issues with cross chat or cross linking. He has also repeatedly asked the members of CTF to relax and take it easy. Any inflamatory posts are usually dealt with via a stern warning as he has no desire to fight with PH.

PH appears to take a less relaxed view but then as a commercial enterprise the owners are within their rights to do as they see fit.

That's probably the least biased point of view that you'll get.

The 'mass migration' was more related to the change in T&Cs where Haymarket retain copyright on our posts or something. Many refused to 'sign' the new terms so effectively banned themselves IIRC. CTF was fun for a bit, but many wandered back 'home'. I still pop in every now and again - a few perma-banned from here are there. Which is nice.
I think Pigeon runs it now.

Added that a lot of folks there deliberately wound PH up before leaving which fanned flames & you have the full story

For what it's worth, this is very accurate.

Although I've not been on CTF for the best part of a year, so not sure about current stuffs.
