Disposable cutlery that is studier than normal?

I'm having a barbecue next weekend if the weather holds up and am looking for some "quality" disposable cutlery, plates and cups.

The white plastic jobs from the supermarkets are always too flimsy and I hate the sizes of the stupid bowls that can't hold anything in. And I also need the cups to be able to hold hot or cold drinks and be bigger than a thimble full!

Could anyone recommend an online supplier that can do something a bit better quality? I don't mind paying a bit extra for it. I had a look at Amazon and these silver disposable and/or reusable cutlery sets seemed ok http://tinyurl.com/c3p3v76 (although some reviewers seem to suggest they aren't much stronger than the normal white plastic ones)

Problem is that the disposable cutlery is so cheap that the decent stuff seems hideously expensive. I've given up, and bought some cheap cutlery instead - much better value in the long run.

Re plates, it doesn't help you, but I have some plastic plates with a thumbhole in that I have whipped off the parents, from the eighties.

Asda do really good cutlery, look for the transparent stuff rather than white - you'll probably end up washing them and re-using, they are that good

Morrisons do excellent sturdy cardboard plates, for reasons only known to themselves they put them in the stationery section.

I think you can get the silver stuff that you linked to at Tesco

We use other Kirkland stuff such as their tin foil and it is proper catering strength stuff so I'd assume their cutlery is of similar build quality.

Or, go to Ikea & get some from their 365 range - I bought china plates, bowls, wine glasses & cutlery for £40 for 20 people - never need to buy disposable again!

Whilst I agree this is probably a good idea in terms of value, I would guess the OP wants disposable stuff to avoid having to do the washing up. What with cooking, hosting the event, and so on, the last thing you want is to have to do the washing up too! Throwing all the junk in the a black bag is much easier!

I have a box at home and we used to have them at work for late night overtime feasts / events - very durable and pleasant on the mouth. Almost to the point where you consider washing them up and using them again

You can buy from Costco online now too but you'd need to order 2 boxes of these and you might get tempted by an 8kg chocolate cake or a 5 tier cheesecake to go with the inevitable 21ft speedboat purchase.

I'm pretty sure i can help with this, i had the exact same problem but eventually purchased some Biodegradable plastic cutlery, this is many times stronger than the usual disposable plastic type you find at the supermarket. I bought mine from: http://innsupplies.com/disposable/plastic-cutlery . It's the biodegradable stuff at the bottom of the page. Bit more expensive but you can actually eat a baked potato safely without a fork shattering in your face!

Ok it's not disposable, but it is cheap, quick wash and you can pack it away for another time.
