My dream car is a MG TC but no way would I ever be able to afford a real one (early retired / skint !) which means kit / replica is my only option.
I can find MG TF (Gentry) and MG TD (numerous US copies - mainly on VW chassis !) but no MG TC's.
Has anyone, anywhere in the world, even made a MG TC kit ?
I suppose I could buy original spec parts from a MG specialist as virtually complete bodyshells are available but that would be outside my reach.
Any suggestions, ideas or whatever ?

Thanks.

Have a look on here but it seems that the MG Tx kits you mention have disapeared fromt the market. I suspect it has been difficult for some of these kits to mee IVA standards and still look original.

http://www.ngcars.co.uk/

Findgorn cars do (or did) a N(M)G TC that takes MB running gear using the 1800 or it will also take the rover v8, at nice 4.6 Range Rover unit ought to to the job :-).

Prices here - http://www.ngcars.co.uk/default.asp?PageID=58 - looks like £10k + the donor and recon bits/consumables.

If my memory serves me correctly I think this kit originated in New Zealand and the moulds etc. were purchased by Findhorn having originally been the importer.

No idea if they are still in business but give the contact no a call and see.

Hope this helps.

Despite being called the NG TC, it looked nothing like the MG TC, however. It actually looked more like an Aston Martin Ulster... and only then if you squinted quite a lot.

There was a manufacturerin the Philippines that was making a nice copy of an MG TC. They were also making a copy of a 7 and a speedster. Not sure of the manufacturer but i do know they exist. Try serching philippines, think Manila. Manila is still the wolds largest producer of Willys Jeep bodies, chassis etc. You can get from there a as new 1940s jeep

I'm thinking of an accurate looking replica body built on a period chassis thus BIVA not applicable as long as 100% standard and just a "rebody".
I know that is easy to say yet far more difficult in reality but I'm just dreaming at present.
The fact my body is failing means dreaming is all I do now but can't stop my mind working on ideas.

I had several of these VW /MG TC kits while living in Florida USA they can be found for very sensible prices all over the states in drive away condition , look in "Hemmings" magazine for so good deals, very cheap & easy to restore and simple to convert to RHD.

The inside is cosy and has plenty of scope for modernizing to suit the UK :- cop &speed camera spotter, sun-tanning machine adapter etc.

Surely that's a TD replica, the existence of which the OP has already acknowledged?

I think the nearest I'll ever get is a BRA P Type -

AFAIK no longer made but believe somebody else had the rights / molds and intends starting production in the future with a different donor base.

Quite nice.

That is a Midge. I note that number plate not displayed so not possible to check how registered. It is either built on a custom chassis or a modified Herald item. Either would require BIVA which unfortunatley a Midge wouldn't pass so suspect this is still registered as a Herald and if that is the case not road legal !
I've got the plans for a Midge as well as Burlington. At one time I had a Herald with rotten body so considered building one or the other. After talking to DVLA I realised the design would need susbstancial alteration to gain a BIVA pass. Shame.

Hi I have just joined piston heads and came across your thread. I have a rover mg tc kit car on a retro chassis full brand new fibre glass body, new windscreen still in wrapper, both bumpers brand new, 5 brand new mitchellin tyres, new rear springs, diff overhauled, all brakes overhauled, 5 speed overdrive gearbox, this car is part built and needs someone to complete as I no longer have the time. The car has been garaged for the last 20 years and it is in immaculate condition for restoration work. This car has cost a lot of money to get to this condition. Please let me know if interested. Thanks wullie
