Used a wooden template screwed back into place so i could find the middle for my 45mm hole saw which was nearly the perfect size. Just about 20 mins fettling with a rotary file done the trick to get required hole.

Drilled the bolt holes and slid shaft into said hole ooohh errr which took a few sharp taps on the steering boss to go through bobs yer uncle. Plenty of silicon around the finished job. Cant test the blighter till i get the anti squeal through the post as the split pins are looking like they might only go in one more time before they give up.

Not a bad job allow 3-4 hours the chewy bit is putting it all back together.

Might I suggest you cover your shaft and the collar in grease (oh, er, missus) on the wheel side to stop water working its way through and up your steering column. I know you've siliconed the bearing plate to the fibreglass, but that won't be enough to stop you getting a wet crotch if you drive in a downpour. Ask me how I know....!!

Just re-cover occasionally for that dry gusset feeling.

Bit of both Mark there's a clamp half way down the shaft which secures the column to the column housing if you undo that and take the bolt out it makes life loads easier. Make sure you mark everything up when the wheels are straight before you disconnect the uni joint under the arch. If you need anymore help email me and i will send you my telephone no. Its pretty straight forward mind you. What a difference it makes though. Good luck.
http://www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk/maint_steering.html This helps but can make the job a wee bit confusing.

P.s use plenty of grease on the shaft it looks as if it wont fit into the bearing but with a few taps with a rubber hammer it goes home.

Top job Dix
If it stops the side to side motion in the steering wheel, both my TVR's have had, the 350i was worse than the SX though, then I'm putting it on the list. Where from and how much?
Cheers
