Had the 4.3 for 10 yrs now.

Only 20k miles and possibly considering a little more sparkle for the engine - nothing radical or costly - 50 bhp / lb ft would be fine + a little more responsiveness

Also have original Konis on J reg car (original firmer springs I think)- these are now definitely shot and I am looking for a cost effective solution - rebuild Konis - if so, any TVR Specialist recommendations

Low cost effective brake upgrade (no fade, simply reluctant to really get the speed off)

Lastly, cooling upgrade - OK on the move but goes in the red in hot traffic. - How much to fit twin fan kit?

Cant help with engine mods as mines fast enough as it is but for handling and braking the best improvement i've made was installing a rear anti roll bar,it changed the handling dramatically as the rear end is really planted now.The brakes were upgraded to 278mm fronts and twin 273mm rears and matching calipers, this involved a brake bias valve change too as the original fitted put way to much bias to the rear,it stops alot better now.Im using Avos as they are relatively inexpensive and you can play with the settings,Nitrons are the way to go if you have the cash.

Your car should have twin fans fitted as standard and a shroud fitted to later Griffs is well worth getting as this makes sure that all air that passes through the rad doesn't get lost to the sides and makes the fans more efficient, David Beers Mod wise kit is well worth the money too and a bottle of Water-Wetter helps keep the temp down a bit.

im sure one of the lads will help you with bhp improvement recomendations.

On the brake side of things you could try different pad material, or go to 500 spec front discs and calipers.
Suspension: Try Joolz at Joospeed for budget or Nitrons.
On the power side, if your engine is not the BV version, consider having this done and depending on how much you want to spend you might consider better induction and a mapped ECU.

Hmmmmm...50bhp eh!

cost you around £4k i guess. see Tim at ACT, Mark adams and V8 Developments for cam and a sound engine (IF you have probs, you'll find out when you start into it)

suspension, well its Nitrons and poly bushes throughout at around £2k, with a good set up. Peninsula-TVR did all the Griff development work but Joospeed is very well thought of and is closer to you in the midlands.

brakes, well around another £1-2k depending on spec, willwoods are good for the money...or there's hi-spec and then if you have REALLY deep pockets its AP's.

should be quite quick after that...

have fun...its worth it!

trust me

50 bhp is quite a bit to find could cost approx £5k
(assuming SH figs of 1bhp=£100)
Induction is probably the easiest way to get a fair bit, possibly starting with an ACT induction pipe and some trumpetsoh nearly forgot getting the injectors cleaned will help too
Its a question of how much you want to spend

No need to spend that amount of money on brakes, totally unnecessary.
Steer clear of Hi-Spec (check other posts and disgruntled customer website).
Hi-Spec used to use Wilwood's but fabricate their own now.
Best compromise is the 500 spec 260mm disc and larger calipers with a good quality pad,or try Rally Design, they used to do a kit which used rotors, bells and a pair of Wilwood calipers which fit the 15" wheels for around £600. You will need pads and hoses as extras.

I'm about to get Penninsula to put Nitrons on my Griff..if your springs are shot like mine, then the budget/TVR shocks plus springs which are seperate come to about £100 less than a set of Nitrons.
Penninsula quoted me £800 for the Nitrons and 4 hours labour for fitting them

The standard Bilstein TVR dampers (if you can get them) now have larger bushings which equates to more compliance.
Ride height is a little higher and strangely the attitude of the car when fitted is back to front, i.e the car is higher at the front than back.

That's a little steep for two bolts per corner, do you get a full suspension setup for that?

If you are looking for cost effective dampers, checkout AVO on the Brackmills ind est. I put them on my wedge & they were an improvement over std, also got 10% discount for being in TVRCC. If you need someone local to set your car up I'd recommend Steve Guglielmi in Daventry, having won the Tuscan championships for 2 years he knows a thing or 2. He's totally transformed my precat.
Have you considered a tyre change? The technology has moved on since the old SO1s that were originally fitted to our cars, the levels of traction & grip that the Goodyear GSD3s give that are on mine now are fantastic. Also the rears have done 16000 miles but are just about worn out.

Did'nt Gerjo do some engine work on his 4.3 when he had one?

Send him a mail or do a search. Could turn up some ideas.
