Has anyone taken their Tuscan on the dutch Autoslaap trein which runs between Den Bosch and Livorno?

Did you have any problems with ground clearance which I'm told is 120mm?

We took our Griff on that last year. Very same route. Car went onto the lower section of the train and was not a problem. They secured it with sand bags as the steel locking bars did not fit under the nose cone of the car, but this is normal procedure for the rail staff.

Be careful when loading the car ( YOU can do it), as you drive on the back of the train and drive the length of the carriages until your car is in position. They do undulate a bit but just load it slowly. No problem.

Try to get booked into the restaurant car. if you cannot get in (fully booked) take some picnic type food, as the food you get supplied in the sleeping carriages is not too clever !

Have a good holiday, and take a sun hat. It gets a bit warm in Tuscany in July ! (if you are going then)

Many thanks! I suppose that the splitter on the Tuscan could pose a problem for fitting the locking bars, so good news about the sand bags. And the min ground clearance is 110mm, not 120mm as I first thought, so I guess I'll have to measure that and raise the car if necessary.

Booked the restaurant car, too.

I think I have a few photos somewhere. I will try to dig them out for you.

There were quite a few classic cars boarding when we were on it, and no body had any securing issues at all. train satff certainly knew what they were doing.

Enjoy the ride.
