Any thoughts for "colour"?

Afternoon all,
My daughter (aged 10) is embarking on a photo competition to take a themed blog shot once a week for the next year.
The theme she has settled on is colour. Obviously this offers up a wide range of choice, starting with spring daffodils this week, but finding 52 shots with as much individuality as possible in each shot isn't going to be easy!
Thus, I'm open to suggestions for when she starts to struggle for inspiration. Are there any festivals (preferably in the Southern half of the country) which particularly lend themselves to this? Examples of colour in nature at unexpected times of the year? Anything is welcome!
I'm letting her use my kit, so should be able to accommodate most suggestions that don't require extreme telephoto lenses.
