IT Short-Term Rate Advice
Discussion
Chaps a bit of advice on what rate to charge in regards to assisting on a two day office move.
Used to manage the IT in a US's UK office, circa 30 seats. Left the company 6 months back on good terms, they were keen to offer any ad-hoc consultancy work in future.
They are now moving the office 2 miles down the road and have asked me to assist over the weekend of the move, so 9am-8pm on the Sat & Sun (give or take depending on amount done)
My old boss has asked what rate would I charge, as he is US based he is unsure of going rates etc...but is definitely no mug and we got on well outside of work. He has asked if I want to bill for number of hours etc.
Most of the work will be setting up desktops, carrying kit, moving tables , but there could be more skilled stuff such as server config, router config, cabling, VOIP & ADSL setup and wiring. I'm more than happy to get stuck in and do two days hard graft and have proved this in the past.
Any tips on what to bill for the two days work, by day , or by hour?
Thanks in advance
