I am looking to connect some bike carbs to an aluminium inlet manifold. Can anyone give me any advice on what 40/42mm hose to use (or you have used) - Std Silicone, the Nitrile stuff or rubber ?

Many thanks in advance.

I just used standard silicon hose, although it isn't supposed to be fully resistant to fuel, I have had the same sections of hose on the car for 6 years with no issues (although they have faded significantly in colour!)

Avoid anything that's not resistant to fuel, like, um, rubber.

Thanks Neil, have also had a look at fuel filler hose but this only seems to come in 45mm diam so may have to have a measure up.

That was my problem too, wanted to use filler hose ideally... but seems to have been ok. It is at least not immersed in fuel, just subjected to the air-fuel mixture...

You need fluoro lined hose.

Have a look here - http://www.jsperformance.co.uk/silicone-hoses/coup...

I have used short lengths of ordinary silicone hose to couple TB's to a manifold. After a while the hose starts to soften and swell.
