Logun is a 5 month old lab.

Yesterday when getting off the sofa, he favoured his left rear leg for a few minutes, today after been in his crate for half an hour, he again favoured this leg.

This looks like cramp or similar, and he soon walks it off.

His walks are 3-4 miles per day.

Is this the start of hip problems? Or am I over walking him?

I would say that is too much walking at that age. Not an expert though.

Yes good question our lab does that ,like stretching and her legs, but she's 5 and a bit.
As far as the over walking thing ,we walk Millie twice a day about 3+ miles no problems.

I'm new to this puppy stuff, but the lady we bought Boris off told us not to over exercise him. A rough guide she said was 5 mins walk for every month of age up until 12 months or he stops growing. Apparently it can aggrevate any future hip problems.
How true this is I don't know but that's how she did it with her two and they seem fine.
Not sure on how you stop an energy filled Lab pup from running around like a furry buffoon, in the house or garden so I guess she meant going out for walks.

As well as his walk, he is constantly play fighting with our border collie puppy.

It looks like I'm just over walking him.

I'd agree that 3-4 miles a day at that age sounds a bit much for a labrador, especially if it were all in one hit rather than 2 or 3 shorter walks - though the '5 minutes per month of age' sounds a tad over-cautious, too.

But what is his hip score (or rather those of his parents)?

His parents hip scores were both, good.

Defo far too much exercise. storing up problems for the future doing that much.
