Thumbs Up for Sonos

Can Sonos stream higher sample rate stuff?
No, 16bit, 48 kHz max, it will show higher rate stuff in your library but won't play it. TBH although I do see it as a plus for the squeezebox system I use, I remain unconvinced that given the same source/master that higher rates or bit depth make any difference.
My OH has bought me a Sonos Connect for my birthday.
I have a QNAP NAS drive in the front room with all my old MP3s on it, and a selection of PS3s that I use to stream media as required to the various rooms/TVs in the house. Unfortunately the music streaming via PS3 is laughably crap, I've only ever managed to work out how to play 1 track at a time.
So I'm hoping the Sonos connect will be able to stream the music from the NAS to my home theatre amp in the lounge using a more intuitive and flexible media player than the PS3 has. The media control I'm assuming I can do via my HTC android phone.
Does this sound like I've got the right idea as I won't get my sticky little fingers on it for another few days?

Is your connect going to be wired to the network or wireless?
If it is wireless you will need a Sonos bridge wired to your router in order for it to work.
This is because the Sonos hardware uses it own wireless network to ensure connection but it also needs at lease one device wired onto the network to be able to see you other devices and the Internet.
Other than that, to understanding of the system is correct and there is an Android App for the controller.

It's all good, I'm sat here now with Bohemiam Rhapsody at ear breaking volumes in the lounge as I try to type this!!!
The Connect is sat under under the TV, next to the PS3, both wired into the Homehub wired network , thankfully the Connect has a built in Lan hub meaning I didn't even have to worry about another Lan connction, just into the connect then off to the PS3.
Does what it says on the package, no issues at all. Momentarily confused when I sync'd my Phone as well as the laptop as it switched to Mute, which took me all of 30 seconds to suss, otherwise very easy to set up , fluid instant delivery of tracks and ease of use.
Exactly what I was looking for.
Now then, back to the music, hmmm... Souxsie and the Banshees next I think, Spellbound.
Holly feck, it's loud, I've never had the Sony 1200ES AV amp up anywhere near these volumes before, I'm getting a headache!
ETA - the Connect had no problems finding and understanding all my old music that I've got on the QNAP NAS in the front room, excellent.

I keep getting drawn to Sonos, and my new house isn't even finished yet!
I've just done a quick "tot up" of what I'd like, for starters, and it's quite a bit more than I thought it would be....
Bridge
2 x Play 5
Sub
1 x Play 3
Soundbar
€2,544 *falls off chair*
I think my missus will snip my nads off if I spend that much!
Perhaps I'll just buy 3 x Play 3 to begin with (2 for living room TV sound, 1 in kitchen), then migrate the 2 loung Play 3s to different rooms and replace those with 5s later?
Actually, would I need a soundbar if I had 2 x Play 3 + Sub in the living room?
Vex, toxicnerve...?
