Hi guys

This time whilst rebuilding, Ive found a gizmo that fits in the line to the speedo. it has 2 wires off of it, but the speedo is 100% mechanical. Any ideas what this does, is it for the fuel injection monitoring. Ive Never seen such a thing?

It'll be a hotwire then? It's used to tell the ECU whether the car is actually moving, I think it's used partly for idle stabilisation.
On my car it feeds speed pulses to the cruise control instead of the electronic pulse generator that cruise-equipped SD1s had in the gearbox, because I still need a cable to drive the speedo.

Do you have a part number on it? This is the puppy I have been looking for after my Griff 500 hot wire transplant. As Ian says its used for motion detection and I have had to put a resistor across mine to fool the ECU into thinking the car is moving!

Any details of numbers or pictures would be appreciated

Mine's made by Jaeger; as far as I recall it's just a reed switch and a spinning magnet!

Hi chris, yes mines ;- Jaeger made in France 336040-01 (with the important number) k9 ( which I think is the resistance value) pointless taking a picture, I had to get the old magnifier out to read it via the grime.

Anyway chaps thanks for your help. Kevin
