Last weekend in heavy London traffic my Griff kept stalling. The engine was running around 100C, and the RPM waivered each time I came to a standstill before dropping off and stalling. I put it down to overheating and the stop/start traffic conditions. Driving back the next day through lighter traffic all was fine.
This evening a similar thing occured, but whilst running at the normal 90C in free flowing traffic. At one point it cut out whilst I was doing around 30MPH.
Any similar problems or troubleshooting suggestions?

This happened on my last Griff, the engine would just cut out without warning it happened a couple of times while overtaking! and turned out to be the inversion switch which is located behind the glove box.It knocks off the fuel system if the car should roll over.I replaced the switch with a new one and the problem disapeared, hope this might be of help

Obviously time to buy 'the book'... what's a 'stepper motor'?
Its a special motor that moves a valve that controls the amount of air that bypasses the throttle to maintain idle speeds. Controlled by the ECU. Very prone to gunging up especially if the car has been in heavy traffic. Located at the back of the plenum. 10 minute kob to undo connector, remove and clean. Cures all sorts of stalling, bad running faults.
