Hurray!!!!!!

Finally, after goodness how long, my friend's chim is now mine Finally today she found another car so she's handed over the keys and we just need to sort out the paperwork

One question, its on Continentals at the mo, but I'm looking for tyre recommendations as I reckon it's gonna need some new rubber soon. Any suggestions? The roads are gonna be wet for the next few months so I want somethings with good wet grip. Good Year Eagle F1s perhaps?

Well done Kenny- I think anyone who has read your posts over the past year has realised that your dream has finally come to fruition!

God, you have been after that car since you first drove it!

As for tyres, I would suggest you look for Bridgestone SO 3's. Search around though to get a good price (£120- £140 each appears to be the norm but I'd love to be proved wrong as I'm currently after a front set!).

Yeah, the first proper drive, was ummm.... an experience. Amazing. Hitting xxxmph then punching the air shouting "TVR!!!! TVR!!!! TVR!!!!" was a pretty good indicator of my view of the car.

She needs a bit of work done, a bit of TLC in general but I'm looking forward to it. Should keep me busy. And yes, I do plan to keep her shiny side up.

Hopefully get her out tomorrow, but it depends on the weather. It really needs dried out a bit first, so dont want her out in the rain.

I'll ask around about SO3s tomorrow and see what the prices are like.

But yes, I'm a happy boy today

Thanks LA, TVR's are infectious! The roads around here are perfect for TVR fun, twisty and exciting. I hope to get some cracking memories over the next couple of years. I just cant wait to get out on a good fast run!!! It would be good to meet up for a blast sometime Where are you based at the mo?

Try www.mytyres.co.uk for SO3s, best price I could find by a fair bit. They got them to me within a couple of days despite quoting a week (they come from Germany).
Fitting/balancing will be about £10 a tyre on top.

Micheldever Tyres and Bracknell Tyre and Battery always have S03s at a decent price. Give them a call to see if any price you've been quoted is fair. From memory ~£210 fitted incl VAT for a pair of fronts (225/50/R15) and ~£230 fitted incl VAT for a pair of rears (245/45/R16). Toyos are also well thought of my some and might well be a bit cheaper, they are apparently a bt slippery when bedding in though, so be careful if you go for them.

I would echo that. I have always used Bridgestone SO2/3's on my TVRs and switched to Toyos at the rear about 2k miles ago. The bedding in period was alarming to say the least.

Cerber450 runs GY F1s on his cerbera and swears by them. He isnt exactly slow behind the wheel either So it would seem these are not a bad choice (although strangely not a popular one ). I can certainly recommend SO3's, in both wet and dry.

And congrats on the new car, might tell you how you can get into it now when the battery goes dead

Cosmos - You're right! The Euphoria CD could be dangerous Majik 6 nearly got me into trouble in the 320 last week. I'll stick to John 00 Fleming. That'll keep me under control. Seriously tho, the engine noise is stunning. People must hear you half a mile away when you're on a charge

Shnozz - Luckily enough I've figured out how to get into it. Also, I'm gonna keep it on a trickle charge in the garage to prevent it going flat.

As regards tyres, I'll bear in mind that SO3s can be slippy when new. I saw the other week someone had the tail snap out on a new pair.

in fairness the SO3's seem to take less time to bed in than the Toyos. If its the same post I am thinking of from the other week it was a chap who had gone from SO3s to Toyos and then wrote off the car a few days later, despite the fact it was dry, he knew the road and he had owned the car for 5 years. Draw your own conclusions....

Kenny, Welcome to the club! I have only had my Chim for about 6 months, and I have already found the need for new tyres. I have a thread on here looking for a couple of new alloys due to a serious kick from the rear end on a set of S02s which had done about 10K I am going to be a tad more cautious from now on. Personally I will be getting a set of S03s, as I have a couple of friends who swear by them. Montys tyres in Richings Park, Iver, Bucks can supply and fit all four tyres for £440.

Kenny, still got your perforated pipes and wadding in your back exhaust box? If so do the right thing and get rid of it..... sharpish! If you think the exhaust note is good now then just wait until you hear the unsilenced roar. It's pretty awesome and will set car alarms off
