Evans waterless coolants ???

the short answer is that it's a fairly decent long term investment and i am yet to see or hear of any complaints from any customers.
The only thing that i have noticed with the waterless coolant is how stable the engine oil temperature readout has become. It used to range widely from 70 in traffic and then read 30 as soon as you hit the motorway.
With the waterless coolant it moves much more slowly , but maintains a constant 60-80 once warmed up.
So far i would recommend it, but have only had it for a month...

Does this stuff need to be renewed once its in the system?
I have heard not - in which case surely not having to renew annually is a benefit?
Intrigued as to how it can reduce detonation?
I didnt think the actual temperature / cooling effect differed from water based coolants, but that you got not pressure in the system as you would when water systems get to boiling point. Not that i dont believe this, just would like to understand how / why...

Evans doesn't need to be renewed - it lasts many years. You mustn't add water to it though, that defeats the object!
Detonation is often caused by localised boiling of the coolant in the cylinder heads, causing a hot spot and subsequent detonation in the cylinder, and very quickly the edges of the piston break up. I had that issue twice with an LS6 engine - 40 minutes was all it took on one occasion, even with forged racing pistons.
The benefit of Evans is that its boiling point is so ridiculously high that you don't get localised boiling.
For us whilst racing this is crucial. If we get held on a grid or backed up in a safety car situation, the engine temp can rise very rapidly.
