Installing a Radio in a Se7en

Any ideas for location etc. standard S3 R300 with heater. any good radios to fit due to weather/water etc. location of speaker or am i wasting the sound of the exhaust?

planning a summer trip to the Alpes just might want some music on the trip.

I think most people use ear defenders/intercom headsets and play an MP3 player through them.
A radio is heavy and you wouldn't be able to hear it at higher speed.

I use earplug style earphones (Shure SE210s), and an MP3 player. Anyone who says 'ooh, dangerous' is wrong as you need earplugs in a 7 anyway as it's so blummin' noisy.

I've had a radio cassette fitted for the last 40 years or so. It's mounted up under the dash between the steering column and the scuttle side.
It's audible up to around 70mph and I wouldn't be without it.
Speakers are built into the footwell side panels so the sides act as a cabinet (obviously difficult to achieve with later chassis cars as you have the honeycomb). Most of my time in the car I'm on my own and I've done a few hundred thousand miles and have always felt the need for sounds.
Also great just to lay back in the car facing the sun listening to favourite tracks.
Latest radio has output for MP3.

On long motorway drives I've used an MP3 player with some Seinhessier ear canal headphones (some CX300's or similar) and they've been great. Especially when you're sticking to 70mph for miles on end, they really help take away the drone of the engine.
