Anyone viewed this spyder?

Apart from the rusty brakes, looks like a nice one. Anyone here been to take a look as he's stocked it for a long while now....

I've been to the dealer, mental set-up they have. From memory, some City boys moved out to the country and started selling cars. Take what ever they want home, as well as one of their 19 year old kids does.
Then the other partner turns up, in his new Aston, he'd bought for himself. Why?!. You've got a showroom for of cars.
Oh, if you go, check out the mint Fiesta! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...
Sorry, can't help with the car.

Thanks guys - interesting! I don't mind the black - it's the steering and feel of the spyder that is lovely for me, not the humps.
Just specced this up as an alternative, but not sure I'm brave enough to go for sports chassis with 20s without trying:

depends what you want a car for, the roof will piss you off big time, most people have them as a 2nd car
mine is a used only roof off. the roof is under my bed, I don't even carry it around.
If you then decide you want to sell , blacks not a great resale colour ,so you have to take that into account.
the new Boxster roof is amazing and double skin.
no one has ever bought a new Boxster with sports chassie so I was told no chance of trying one even at Silverstone.
I had a normal one for 24 hours, they are night and day VS a Spyder, think of it like a GT3 vs a normal 911

The roof will piss my wife off more than me! But yes, I don't like the roof noise most of all, but don't mind taking it on and off.... Spyder was just one of the best cars I've ever driven....
981 - tricky, will have to see if there is a sport chassis car anywhere out there. I don't like the look of the 19s wheel design.
Maybe should think about 20s with PASM instead, but want more of that spyder feel really.
I love the sound of the PSE on the 981, but need to test drive.

you won't get the Spyder feel in the 981.
As you say one of the best cars to drive in the last 10 years.
It's not taking the roof on and off the issue, it's the noise of the thing and the draft if you keep the back bit off.
add in the back bit and it's bloody noisy again.
it's an open top concept design hence the designers could fit the humps and this will make it a true classic.

I think a 981 on 19" wheels and non PASM suspension is closer in feel to a Spyder than a 20" wheel car with PASM but they are still chalk and cheese. Just an opinion and I haven't driven a car with sports chassis.
As an every day proposition get the 981. I would suggest an approved used 6 month old one and save at least £10k.
As a second (or third) car, get the Spyder. It creates a "wow" factor that makes it seem very special. People genuinely whip out their camera phones when they see one on the road, happens to me nearly every time I go out in it. Plus, if you like that black one you would save £20k over your new 981 spec!
Mine is financed with a balloon payment due next month. It is probably cheaper for me on a monthly basis to get a brand new 981 - with the same mileage I currently do over the next 3 years my Spyder will want 3 x warranty renewals, a set of tyres and brakes, one major and one minor service. A new 981 would probably just need just one minor service thus balancing out depreciation issues to some extent. I would use it more, the roof is miles better and the ride is miles more comfortable. I have gone on the configurator but can't spec a new 981 I'd want at a price I'd be prepared to pay. The price of some of the options that come as standard on my wife's Fiat (Abarth) 500 are laughable.
The sad thing is, for me personally, the Spyder is the first Porsche I have owned from new and was to some extent the realisation of a dream so I'm quite fond of it. I don't want to sell it and a 981 doesn't reward as a driving experience as well as a Spyder on the sorts of journeys I currently use the Spyder for. To be honest, the only thing that would tempt me out of it would be a GT3. So I'll be keeping mine.
OP good luck in your hunt - there is only one Spyder in the OPC network currently which is white and comes with "fatboy" seats. Since the start of the year, OPC Spyders have sold quickly.
Been looking at F430 spiders, but not sure if it's for me having looked at some cars. Coming from Porsche, the build quality isn't what I'm used to, and I wouldn't be able to use the F430 as often as a Porsche. But you don't get the theatre.
It'd be my only car (bar an old beater), but I pretty much only drive for fun (live in London, and drive out of London for fun!). This is the longest I've looked at what to get ever! I can't seem to buy a car for some reason! So hard to decide after having such a great experience for over 4 years in a well specced 987S with Carnewal exhaust that sounded lovely.
I suppose if I went for something like that spyder it's a lower risk proposition than being disappointed with a 981 or something.
Do like the pops and crackles of the 981 PSE heard in that Evo review on YouTube though! I like raw, but equally the refinement of the 981 appeals in a strange way, and my wife didn't like the buckets of the spider. I could make her put up with them
Need to go and drive some cars.... I hear Porsche are doing discounts at the moment too.
