I was up in the attic last weekend, grubbing around for old photos, at the command of 'her indoors', and came across a certificate I hadn't seen for many years - from Ian Taylor Racing School back in 1998, where I took as full day course and got an 85% pass!
All I remember is the single seater Renault, and careering around the Thruxton circuit for the day, constantly being flagged to slow down by white faced marshalls on tight corners! Admittedly one driver managed to bend his into a nice Vee shape on coming off into the gravel and then hitting the barrier, but then I guess he got his line wrong! - Twas a great day!
So... with that memory rattling freshly in my brains, and given that I hope to have my GTR on the road in May (with a following wind) after it's first (or second) visit to VOSA (waiting for the date right now), I decided to refresh my driving skills and redo the full day course at ARDS Silverstone and go get my National B Competition License.
..therefore yesterday, on an impulse, I have booked 25th April(yes a thurs) - they still have places I believe - better in the week, not so busy.
There is a video on the site if you want to find out what the day holds...

Short notice, but anyone fancy joining me?

Thinking of doing some racing then?
Certainly thinking about it... nothing hugely expensive or serious, as I am well over the hill! Was in the game many moons ago (60s-70s Mini coopers, Cooper Climax, hill climbs etc), but gave up (started family).... however never quite managed to stop the itch..
Now? ....well I might dabble... before I am too old or infirm/ incontinent!

Even budget racing is relatively expensive though Keith!
The old adages apply:
Racing costs - how much do you want to win?
How to make a small fortune in motorsport.... start with a large one!
