RRS tyre advice
Discussion
Hi all
I've got a Jan 2010 RRS on 20" standard wheels. I'm watching eBay for a set of 19" wheels, which will be a better fit to a bit of offroad use (only fields and mud, nothing too strenuous). I've been trawling the interweb for appropriate tyres but struggling to identify exactly what it is I need. Most of my miles are motorway, but if I could get something that was reasonably suited to a muddy field then that would be ideal.
Any suggestions? I confess I'm not a tyre expert, so it may simply be that I coulds widen my search parameters, but at the moment I'm not coming up with anything that isn't claiming to be a pure road tyre, unless anyone in an RRS on 19" wheels can tell me how practical these are off road? My 20" alloys are already pretty messed up already (had the car for 7 months), so I've got to get off them one way or another.
Thanks
Steve

Hello Steve,
I'd suggest speaking to your local RR dealer to better understand the make and model of the 19" tyres specified as Original Equipment.
All tyres that are OE to LR products are signed off for Mud and Snow (M&S) capability. Obviously some are better suited to different attributes but all of them should really suffice for your needs and the dealer should be able to advise the best for you.

Ultimately, whatever you chose is always going to be a compromise... Personally though, I think the 19" gives a better ride than the 20" anyway.
If you're using it more on the road then off-road, I'd probably err on the side of Scorpion Zero. The narrower 255 will make a big difference compared to the 275 on the 20", even though it's not an 'aggressive' looking tyre.
The only thing I'd say is that if you have the Brembo brakes (TDV8 / Supercharged), you have to be very careful on your choice of 19" rims as there are only 2x types which fit.

General Grabber AT - a good all round tyre
I have these on my Jeep and they are spot on both on and off road. Most of my miles are motorway and they're very well behaved.Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
