Mercedes configurator
Discussion
Now forgive me if I'm being stupid, it wouldn't be the first time, but I can't seem to spec up a car on the Mercedes configurator.
It seems to me, that all you can do is look at a picture and chance the exterior colour and wheels, nothing more?
What I wanted to do was spec up a car and see how much it cost, same as you can on everyone else's configurator, but it seems I can't.
All I can do is look at a really disjointed online brochure, it's s
te beyond belief.
Unless I'm missing something?????

What about ringing a dealer and seeing if they have an idea on final prices?
It'd be a long conversation with him telling me all the details of all the options available, and showing me pictures so I can see what it's like.Every other manufacturer manages to have a working website, why are Mercedes so s
te?Why not use the price list, which you can download in full. Trust me, it is really easy. You print it out, take a pen and mark a little star (or a cross) next to each option you wish to specify (if you like you can even underline the numbers). Then you take out a calculator (use the one on your iPhone) and add up the numbers in the right hand column of each row that you have put your mark in. At the end, hey presto, you have the price of a car built to your specification.
It will, of course, look exactly the same as all the other E-Classes out there, that is, a perfectly fine white, grey or black saloon car with black seats bedecked with rather vulgar Max Power addenda for the benefit of the tender egos of wage slaves whose only opportunity to demonstrate the pretence of status is in a traffic jam. What counts more? 19" AMG wheels or privacy glass? You tell me. You can even see one in the metal: just go down to the nearest out of town office park or Toby Carvery and stand around for 5 minutes. About 30 will whoosh in or out. Get out of my way, my journey is much more important than yours!
