ACL Repair/Anaesthetic Questions.
Discussion
Folks,
I have a snapped ACL and a meniscal tear. I have 'managed/coped' with it for a while, but it's getting in the way of other things I want to do (e.g skiing) - and so I'm limbering up for the operation to have the ACL reconstructed.
Perhaps irrationally, the bit I'm most worried about is the GA - I am really not thrilled about the idea of being knocked out. Specifically:
- any way I can gauge risk of adverse reaction? I had another op when I was very small for which I was knocked out, I'm otherwise healthy and don't take any medication.
- is there only one 'adverse reaction' which is you don't wake up, or in the spectrum of 'reactions' is the most common spotted as soon as they put you under and then you get brought immediately round and they have to revert to plan B?
hoping there might be a surgeon or anaesthetist on here that might be able offer a little reassurance/advice..I realize it's not terribly rational
(FYI, I did read This)
Cheers, Ace
