DETLING IN KENT SHOW ANYONE?
Discussion
I have to say I was very disappointed. There were barely any manufacturers there displaying their cars. Instead, it was mainly trade stands selling kit car parts.
I think I managed to stick it out for nearly 2 hours, but by then I'd done everything. A very poor display from the kit car industry.

Was it worth it?
always subjective as everyone has a different angle to these shows. I think for us (skcc )the answer was yes. The guys had a good 90 miler down the twisties to the coast and back taking in brekkie en-route getting to the ground at Lunchtime. There was a reasonable amount of cars there but fewer traders due apparently to another large European Show. I guess if folks went looking for 20 sellers of carpet or to perhaps order a new 'kit' they'd be disappointed......
personally i like to support the local shows but they aren't my cup of tea, so using it as a meeting point to see old pals from other clubs or pals from our own club that have been hibernating was good. like i said, its a subjective view as i don't really like any show - even the fabled Stoneleigh......if i'm not after buying parts or a car, then looking at a shedload of westies/caterhams or whatever else holds little appeal - its the catching up with pals and driving that floats my boat, so the 'which manufacturers were there' question has no interest or relevance for me.
Looking at the parked cars there were obviously a number that were 'strangers'.....but not a whole heap, which would leave me to guess that it wasn't that well supported by folks from neighbouring counties - which is a pity.

To my complete surprise and disappointment I discovered on arrival that only 3 manufactures had made the effort, I have no idea why. Clearly though if you attended to buy a kit then you would not have been completely let down as in attendance were DAX with a very smart Cobra and 7 and GBS with a large selection of parts plus 2 great looking 7's, we had a Rocket, Sonic, Mevster, tR1ke and MEVABUSA so there was not a awful lot missing in terms of kit type choice.
Complete Kit Car and Total Kit Car both had a large display of reading material,
there were tools and trim for sale and a decent turn out by the car clubs. I did enjoy the stunt show. It was a little different and well put together apart from the roll over car not quite making it over despite the encouragement from the crowd.
Entertainment in Maidstone on the Friday and Sat eves was second brilliant. We had a great weekend, spent a fortune of fuel, exhibition space, hotels, food and booze, and did not make a single sale. Use it or you loose it, I guess the industry has to be blamed for loosing that one. Can't imagine the organisers paying out to try that game again.
SO BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO CKC, TKC, DAX, GBS, MEV, RTR, the clubs and Grosvenor shows.

I had a good look around the Mev cars, and I think it was the most interesting selection at the show.
I did like the look of the Mevabusa, and the Mevster looked much better than in the early photos.
I did wonder if the Mevster should have a more comfortable interior to go along with the more practical nature of the car.
There looks to be loads of space in it though
Mr Mills was deep in conversation, and I didn't interrupt him as I'm not planning to replace my car at the moment.
