Could it bode for a new and interesting direction for Aston?

You may well be right about an interesting direction

The (Hydrogen fuel)system includes four ultra-high strength carbon fibre tanks holding a total of 3.5kg of hydrogen stored at a pressure of 350bar – two tanks housed next to the driver and two in the boot of the car.

Well, it's a better way of reducing the range's CO2 emissions than the Cygnet!
But let's not go into that topic again...
Interesting idea though. If they can get zero emissions (albeit for only part of the race), reliability AND race pace, I think that would be quite an achievement. Well, quite a headline anyway. The Greens will no doubt moan about the carbon footprint of the rest of the race but there you go.

Aston seem to follow some odd directions for a small manufacturer.
Designing a new car and only selling 77 of them, licensing prams, wasting design resources on the Cygnet and now hydrogen fuel. I think that given you can hardly by LPG anywhere that hydrogen is not likely to make it to your local Esso any time soon.
They are clearly a talented lot, but that have a very nice but ageing product line up that all comes from the same parts bin, looks similar etc. They have recently run out of money (again).
I would have thought that their considerable talents would have been better served sorting out their core business problems and introducing mainstream new product lines as opposed to the continual distractions they seem to come up with.
Just a view!

Seems the Dr is a bit "mutton" though

Agreed, but maybe the engineers are finding it easier to design and build a hydrogen powered car than producing cars that consistently don't rattle from the sat nav! I think you've got this very wrong...Designing a new car and only selling 77 of them, licensing prams, wasting design resources on the Cygnet and now hydrogen fuel. I think that given you can hardly by LPG anywhere that hydrogen is not likely to make it to your local Esso any time soon.

I don't think AML have many talented engineers left. Look on linkedin.com and see how many JLR engineers are ex-AML.
Look at the press release, Alset global and their partner organisations appear to own the intellectual property.
Looks to me that AML are just providing a donor car and a publicity hungry CEO...
