Has anyone been to look at this Turbo X50 at Portiacraft?

It's cheaper than the black one at JZM even though it's got fewer miles on it.
I've been reading mixed reviews of Portiacraft which makes it difficult to tell whether they're to be trusted or not.

I won't be changing to a Turbo until later in the year but this is the kind of car I'll be looking for I think.
I've read quite a few reports of increased lag in the X50 (presumably because of the bigger turbos) which is putting me off them a bit. Is it as bad as it's made out to be or is it barely noticeable?

I was actively seeking (and bought) a non-X50 for this reason.I've read quite a few reports of increased lag in the X50 (presumably because of the bigger turbos) which is putting me off them a bit. Is it as bad as it's made out to be or is it barely noticeable?
The standard car is quick enough in my opinion.

Did you try both before buying? The standard car is quick enough in my opinion.

If you try a standard car and think it's not quick enough, I'll eat my hat.

Easily solved with a good remap from Nine Excellence or Fearnsport.mudy said:
Saw it on Monday when I was in getting some paperwork from Martin and spoke to Matt about it - looks in lovely condition, Portiacraft have always been fantastic to me every time I've needed them over the last three years - with me and others I know they stand by their cars
Good to hear. Thanks.
I doubt very much that this particular car will be available when I'm ready to buy (late summer) but I'm sure there will be others.911p said:

I've also heard good things about MRC Tuning in Banbury. Fast Audis are their speciality but I hear they do a good job on 911 Turbos as well.BillTheButcher said:

114,000 miles. Look for History, History and History, look for all the work that has been done on the car...It's cheaper than the black one at JZM even though it's got fewer miles on it.

If you have a PPI, i'd go for somewhere you get the car on the ramps, check out the turbos, front diff, suspension, oil leaks, brake lines etc.

Thanks Mr F.
Peter Morgan have been recommended to carry out a PPI. I think that's who I'll be using when I'm in a position to buy later this year.
These cars are getting to a price range where they are affordable now, but get one that needs new suspension, rads, turbo repairs, then you can kiss goodbye to another £5k.

I've used Peter before, you get a good report, and pictures, but there is no insurance to say that other mechanical items are checked.
I'm more thinking here pressure testing the turbo systems for cracking pressures on the Turbos to make sure the wastegates are working, and there are no leaks, or that the actuator rods are all OK, and then compression testing the car. I don't think Peter does this, as the car will have to be on the ramps for this. On 114,000 I would want a compression test, just as a safeguard along with rev range print out for #1 and #2
There will be more cars out there when you are looking, and the K16 cars are quick cars with a little tweaking. In fact 9E use the K16 Turbo base, and get 700HP from it.

Have fun, choose wisely, enjoy :-)
