I always likened TCR to automatics. It's for people who want to have a go at driving without learning any of the skills which make it so involving.

I got a TCR, really wanted a Scalextric, but Mum worked for NAAFI and got a massive discount out of their catalogue, shouldn't complain really it was the 4 lane one with 2 jam cars.
.My mate had the Dukes of Hazard one, sure you could do U-turns with it?

Really? My memory of the one go I had on it some +30 years ago was pressing the trigger as hard as possible and not lifting for the corners as no matter how fast I was going they wouldn't come off the track. I thought that was the "point" of TCR?

My mum's sister's husband, was some sort of officer (Major I think) in the British army. He was serving in Munchen Gladbach. He got all sorts of discounts from the NAAFI. I got a little radio controlled harrier jump jet as a present once My mate had the Dukes of Hazard one, sure you could do U-turns with it?
