Started a new job last week which means I'm now able to ride the daily route which has been great about 15 mile round trip.

My cycling past has been mainly XC on trails, so this road stuff is a bit new. I need some advise re shoes and how to carry stuff.

Re shoes I don't want to get into SPD so has anyone any recommendations for lightweight waterproof hard soles that would do the job?

Also are the rucksack you see on bike websites just standard sacs or do they have specific cycling features? Any recommendations for taking tablet/clothes/work shoes etc

Any thoughts greatly received

I've been riding in to work for a year in some Puma Driftcat trainers. They've done the job, but are now a bit saggy so have literally just switched to SPDs. If you're set against clipless, any of the "skate"-type trainers should do the job.

As for bags... Personally I don't ever ride all five days of the week, so I leave a rucksack under the desk with several changes of clothes and shower stuff. Towel hangs under the desk.
