Smoked salmon - will I die?

Have some vac packed whiskey and honey flavour smoked salmon that shows 'use by 9th April'.

Was going to have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
It's unopened, looks fine in the packet, but don't want salmonella. Will I get it if I eat it. Should I cook it to eat it, or are the cats going to be all 'Lord Muck' later, lording it up with a smoked salmon tea! (Or will they die too?).

Got some free range local eggs laid by chickens who's name we know, and was really looking forward to breaky!

You really shouldn't have a problem with smoked fish as it's smoked to preserve it.

As long as you have followed the storage guidelines on the packet, I'd go for it.

Taste it, if that's OK then enjoy.

If it looks and smells ok eat it. Packet Smoked salmon lasts for ages, i've eaten it 1 to 2 weeks out of date.

I always tend to ignore use by dates and follow my nose, get it eaten!
