clutch / release bearing failure symptoms?
Discussion
Folks
Just picked up my new chim on Thursday and managed the 500 mile trip home with no issues. Different story today though
Basically when the clutch engages there is now an obvious whine / screech noise, which lasts for a second or so. In reverse with the clutch depressed there is an almost constant sound. Also seems harder to engage the clutch smoothly.
I'm leaning towards an issue with the release bearing, but any other ideas (and the difficulty replacing this) would be much appreciated.
Car is a 94 with T5 box and the clutch is less than 2 yrs and 12k miles old.
Cheers.

It's the spigot bearing not he clutch release!
I'd stil bet on the release bearing as it's a brass bush on the Rover V8 and not a needle roller so wouldn't normally squeal but for what they cost you may as well change them both as the 'box has to come out either way.locodude said:
