US source for cable clamps

Not really sure what they are called but I am referring to the clamps that go on the body release cables. I managed to lose the ones for the front end, anyone know what they are called and where to get them.

In the UK we have the electrical connection blocks that we refer to as chocolate block connectors. They are a row of connections in plastic. You can push wires in both sides and screws in the top can be tightened onto the wires. If you cut off the plastic you are left with that exact part you need.

Many electrical units have this typr of connection block... just look around them. I would be suprised if the US don't have them.

I have seen these (or similar) at Ace Hardware. They are in the isle with the nuts/bolts. Generally in the specialty hardware area with all the plastic pull-out drawers.

What you want is a strip of this stuff:


I think it was the 10A stuff I used. Remove the screws and cut away the plastic as phil describes and you're done. Should cost pennies from your local electrical/DIY shop.

I've seen the bits for sale separately too but I'm sure that they'll cost at least 10x the price of the electrical connector!

They are called swages or a cable swage.

Try an aircraft or marine supply retailer. Aircraft Spruce and Specialty will have them in the US.

In the UK they got the name 'Chocolate Block' because the original ones were made from the forerunner of plastic called 'Bakelite' (sp) which was dark brown.

thanks for the info, called aircraft spruce and ordered them. cost $.18 each. Cheapest order I have ever placed.
