My car has developed a rumble that sounds like its coming from the rear. I thought wheel bearing as the offside rear wheel had been banged up a kerb so I changed the bearing and the rumble is still there, although less pronounced than before.
I've jacked it up and the propshaft spins straight, both driveshafts run straight and nothing else appears to be bent.
My next things to look at are wheel alignment and changing the diff oil.
It never did it before but has been sat around for 3 weeks whilst it had some work done on the front end, started driving again and the rumble appeared. It seems as if road surface plays a part in it too. On new smooth Tarmac there is no rumble but on older stuff you can hear it.
Any other ideas on things to look at? Binding brake perhaps?

Easy one to check, wheel nuts tight?

Also it could be coming from a different corner of the car. Sounds can be deceiving like that. Beyond that it becomes an expensive part replacement game until you find the offending bit!

After much tinkering and money the rumble still persists. One thing I have noticed is the rear drivers side tyre loses pressure gradually, could the tyre be making the noise if it's misshapen/ distorted? They are quite old so mght have lost their shape.

swap the wheels front to rear and see if the noise changes position.

After someone else drove my car and I followed it the rear drivers side tyre is misshapen and isn't running on the rim properly.

Time for a new set of tyres as the old ones could not really be described as progressive. They'd grip one minute and you were facing the wrong way the next..nuts
