essex v6

Just got a new kit with an Essex v6,always had x/flow up till now so not use to the Essex and trying to get it started after a 10yr lay up,when you crank it on the starter it seems very slow
Got a spark but not really turning fast enough to strike (or so it seems) new battery,cleaned all contacts an earthing points but still seems really slow turning to a x/flow boy
So how fast should it be turning or anymore advice ???

from my experience on my 3 litre essex ive had to change the starter motor a few times as it started to turn the engine over slow,this has fixed it both times,also i use the diesel equivalent battery with a better cranking output.

Well that did it ! also had a new starter/battery cable made up and a new engine earth cable
First time I have ever had a kit with an Essex in as have always gone the x/flow route and surprised how quickly it revs up an the sound it makes
About another 20 jobs and we might be on the road for the end of summer

I have one in my Mk2 Cortina Savage and it sounds fantastic!
