Just finished getting rover temp sender running with TVR dial (thanks for pointers) and replaced cracked serp belt so decided to give the engine bay a bit of a clean, and found left hand front valve cover leaking quite a bit of oil.

I would do both at the same time, Know it needs a special long adapter to access the bolts and removal of plenum. Question is how long a job is it? I can't manage to be stood for any real time.

Cheers guys. Ian.

Don't remember needing any special/long tools when removing the plenum from my Wedge. The water pipe connections at the butterfly valve were a bit fiddly but no great dramas. I'd replace the gaskets with rubber ones if you have not already thought about this. Guess the time the job will take depends on what else you do at the time, like clean the plenum innards and butterfly valve etc. Just break the job down into a three or four stints if you can't stand for long.

You may mean that you need a long 10 point socket for the rocker cover bolts.

Thanks for that, was not sure what size the bolts were on covers.
Reason it was an all in one job is barn I keep her in is the dustiest place on the planet and wanted to avoid engine exposure to it.

Still wondering if a crank might be a good idea since 56k.

Interesting beaver, I had always presumed from chat on here it was a must by now.
In which case maybe I'll roll my selves up and get a tarp to cover the engine. Saves loading the credit card smile

Is it not a bi-hex 12 point socket. A 8mm? Machine Mart have them 1/4 drive.

Mmmm you could be right.. was reading the post on my BlackBerry whilst waiting in the dentists..laugh now reading the full bit, cam would fit better smile

however... although the crank was fine, the mains were showing wear anda couple were down to the copper when I had these done at 45K... obviously I've re-done these now with the full engine re-furb so it would be worth a look... if you did mean cam... whilst you have the valey gasket off you'll get a good look at the lobes so you can make the call wink
