I would appreciate a short 'heads-up' on replacing CV joints (S3).

1.Is it advisable to change both inner and outer joints on each side to be on the safe side ? and
2.how to tackle removal of the Torx bolts ?

Anyone have a good (cheap!) source for the CV joint and part number. Fancy having a go at this myself.

Many thanks
Darren

Did mine in March '03. Replaced both ends as per general concensus on here. Had no problems with Torx bolts just took it easy and gently increased the force until they came undone. The units I used were reconditioned parts from AMK part # TDL 3017R £63.72p the pair plus gaiters FAI BK 5793 £14.97p the pair. The only issue I had was they didn't supply replacement circlips so I had to re-use the old ones - not a problem as long as you're careful taking them off.
Best of luck

You can buy torx drives that fit on your socket set and I found these a lot easier to use especially when first releasing the bolts. They're available singly or in sets from Halfrauds.

I had to replace a couple of damaged bolts so bought new ones from Ford and found the new ones used a different head size to the originals - just something to bear in mind.
