Just got home to find a bloody "notice of prosecution" letter on my door step.. I am a very considerate driver who sticks to the speed limits where posted and even crawls through towns and outsdide schools...I drive with a clear consious. But this was a sneeky one on one of those roads where the speed limit is not posted very well and there was no evidence what so ever of a police hidden camera, Are you not meant to be able to see these mobile cameras because if you are this bar steward of a police man was wearing camoflage beried in a headge row with blackout paint on his face. I pride myself on supporting the police in there endevours to cut road deaths and stupid driving but there is no excuse for not giving me a fair chance. I was doing 39mph in a 30 but this particular road you could do 60 down with no worries of knocking down children and old ladies. I have never been caught speeding in my life as i dont take liberties and really feel victimised by being another bloody revenue generator for the police, Untill this moment i had the upmost respect for the police as i felt safe in the knowledge they were keeping careless drunk drivers of the road. I have read posts on here about people in similar situations but untill know had thought they were bleating on about being caught doing exesive speeds. Why oh why should a self respecting police man want to hide to get a bloody ticket issued, There is no way this police person was doing the right thing. Have i a leg to stand on or i should i now become another police hater.....They have lost all my respect. I know there are police on this site so i would welcome anything you have to say in defence of this assault on my caracter...Message to the police...Enforse the speed limits where it is relevent not where people are definatelly going to get caught to raise money. Put it this way while they were watching for me they were not watching for someone doing 39mph outside a school....THINK. Sorry to rant but i am livid (feel better now for getting of my chest though)

Wedget,

i feel sorry for you mate. Its the same old story - the country is going to the dogs with peiople no longer feeling safe in their houses or out walking at night, yet our police force spend all their time hiding in bushes catching out motorists! Are we going to rob someone? Attack someone? Commit burglary? Hold up a shop? Plan a terrorist activity? No i dont think so! And we pay taxes to pay for these people on the premise that they protect us and feel safe!

Its all wrong, and all i can say is sorry to hear this, but don't let it bring you down

In Eire, the speed camera vans are painted dark green and have no markings, or advance warning signs.

I know, I sped past one twice in two days...

G.bird thank you for your encoragement and to the other chap i wouldnt mind if they were painted green...Invisible is a different matter...I for the life of me cannot see where they could have hidden unless it was under a car or they had one of those james bond type DB7s that turns invisible..Seriously are they not meant to be seen from a certain distance. Are you not meant to be able to go " oh shite ive been done" and wait for the letter to arrive

Quinny i understand what you are saying but i feel like a police man has put a gun in my back and robbed me, He even had a mask on.....I was not driving carelessly or in my opinion fast it was a country road with one of those speed limits posted way to far away from the village itself that you take your foot off the gas and coast way before you hit the village or about 100 yds from the first house

P.s. Nice car..

Since you're obviously sat at home posting and not driving tonight, have a stiff one with me. I'm up in court tomorrow to argue the toss over another GATSO offence.

Where's my role model street gone.

Give the bloke a break mate, you know he never meant it. Sounds like the sort of bloke who supports the police but is being alienated by robots.

No the bloke who got done for Speeding. (Millions to pick from I know)

Here is a serious question, if the same amount of people keep getting caught each day then how long will it be before the whole world is banned?? And Gatso's turn to fast walking?? Or fast talking?? Fast writing perhaps??

Because when we have given every penny we have to the big yellow machines, they will have to turn to something.

(OK, maybe the serious question went slightly unserious)
