No time soon, the current platform will run out in 2016. No sign of a replacement at the moment.

I would say the lack of news about a new Discovery is conspicuous by its absence given that so much is revealed in advance about their other models e.g. DC100. I think it may be doomed or merged in with a 7 seater more upmarket Freelander.

No doubt there'll be some LR insider who'll come in and tell us nothing except that he or she knows but can't say. That'll be useful.

Reading between the lines the Freelander replacement is next.

No official word on Discovery replacement at all.

Well they've already turned out a few versions over many years and there are loads of them about, so I assume they will keep it going like they have with the RR sport ?

I was at a LR prototype customer event recent in which had what I had to presume was the new Freelander present - but got the impression that it was still some way off full production

See my comment above about a LR insider that comes in and says nothing useful. This is him presumably.

I need a new Freelander please, ASAP. Bigger than the current one, sexier & with electric-hybrid drive.

Thx

Show us any car manufacturer that's reducing its lineup. Niche is the way; if it sells, make it.

Were you part of the group filling in the 'tablets'? or part of the focus group?

The next Freelander will be next to be revealed.

We have had 2 new Range Rover's, and the Defender replacement is anyone's guess really.

The Discovery is a hugely selling model and LR would be mad to not replace it with a new one.

It will happen, give it a few year's but it will happen.

I did the focus group, which was really very interesting.
We were however told what that new car was... it was not the new freelander, although that is exactly what I thought it looked like. (nor was it a disco 5)

There's a MY14 facelift coming to the Discovery 4 in September (new lights with LED DRL, new wing mirrors etc.) so expect it to run for a couple of years after that. I guess they'll then produce an all-new Discovery 5 on the same platform as the L405 and L494 Range Rovers. I did a search and the link below seems to support my guesswork:

Some information on the Discovery 4 facelift: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Searc...

This was published last year (November)and it seemed to at least get the range rover sport correct.

I like the look of the lwb defender, especially if it comes with something less agricultural than a 4 cylinder engine.
