Yep I'm going though I'll be trailering my Midas as I've not got it rebuilt enough yet to drive it there.
Evening qdos Jeysus I thought I was bad!! I will be there but God knows what in. Could be a Vindicator (yes I own two, you will not be surprised to learn!!). Or any one of ten different more or less legalish almost there kit cars. I think mine are breeding amongst themselves on the quiet. I am really looking forward to this years show!Steffan said:

which I'd like to take but that's even further off being near ready to show anyone. So It's my Midas rebuild I'll be taking which I'm quite chuffed with how it's looking. Won't be finished but it'll look different
, I'll be at the club section with it. Edited by qdos on Tuesday 16th April 21:48
Looking forward to this one, 2 cars to launch and a book. Come and say hi PHers.
The spirit of the event is captured very well here;

I will certainly be taking the time to visit your stand Stuart and I look forward to a typical MEV revelation of just what can be achieved with really creative modern kit car design. You drive and energy has to be seen to be believed. I am looking forward to renewing the acquaintance!!The spirit of the event is captured very well here;

There's a new twist! If you drive your kit car in you get free entry.If you trailer it in do you get 1/2 price entry?

Should be a good show as always, especially with several new product launches and a book launch!
Strange how time seems to go at warp speed during the Stoneleigh show............

Would a Lotus be allowed in to the Kit Car Show?
I saw an Esprit there a couple of years ago, but shouldn't it just be types that were available as kits?
I've been waved in whilst driving TVR Griffith, Elan Plus 2 and Elise's - I think they bend the rules a bit for anything that they deem would be of interest as an 'exhibit' (or perhaps the gate personnel just don't know the difference for anything that doesn't look 'mainstream')?I saw an Esprit there a couple of years ago, but shouldn't it just be types that were available as kits?
I've also been waved in whilst driving a Lotus Elan Sprint, though of course that was technically available as a kit car!

Thanks for that.I've also been waved in whilst driving a Lotus Elan Sprint, though of course that was technically available as a kit car!
I think people forget that some RWD Elans would have been home built?
I wonder how easy they were to build, back in the day?

Very easy, even compared to something like a Caterham, as I understand it - they were supplied as kits as a tax dodge rather than as a means of recreation. Basically, you were supplied with an almost complete car and had to do little more than drop the engine/gearbox in, bolt the wheels on and fill up the fluids...Having said that, I've rebuilt them down to component level and they're not especially difficult to put together - the most difficult job (as with many kits) is hanging the doors accurately.

At the Detling show a few years ago they tried to send me and my Quantum Saloon round to the public car park 'cos they though it wasn't a kit car - Didn't know whether to feel pleased or not? I saw an Esprit there a couple of years ago, but shouldn't it just be types that were available as kits?
