I started a new dream job around 8 months ago on a contract basis. I did sign a contract, and although not employed I have been treated as such.

A couple of months in 2 new employees started and from the word go they were trouble. I was their supervisor, along with one other chap. They constanly belittled me, insulted me, and undermined me. They sprawled graffiti on my car, and constantly told me that I was not in charge of them. Instead they always turned to the other supervisor which further undermined my authority. Come January I made an official complaint to my manager about one of them in particular following his latest threat. We decided to monitor the situation. Last week I had had enough. Although I had not had any more threats the insults, undermining and belittling behaviour continiued. I complained again to management and explained that for the last 6 weeks or so the constant crap I had been enduring had got me down and had affected my ability to do my job properly.
My management came to site on Monday, and after meeting with the client they proceeded to dismiss me for underperformance!!! I have since sent them an email asking why they had not effectivly dealt with my complaints and I also pointed them to the ACAS web site which clearly lists types of bullying, harrassment and intimidation etc.
Human resources then emailed to say they will hold an internal investigation.
The bottom line is they did not deal with my second complaint effectivly, and plainly used an excuse to fire me.
I do agree that I was underperforming, but my position was impossible and I am/was genuinly sick of the way I was being treated.
Until recently I was getting very good reviews about my performance and was promised promotion.
Although I am very angry I was fired I was actually relieved, at least I would not be subjected to any more abuse.
Do I have a case against them? What should be my next action? Am I screwed because I was not an employee?

You do have rights.

How could you have not been an employee but been "treated like an employee".

HMRC would have been very interested in that arrangement.

They scrawled graffiti on your car?

Surely thats a job for the police, then a charge against them, then dismissal from the company for gross misconduct?

Are you being serious?

That level of trouble from any individual can only be dealt with in one way.
Firstly make sure you have a false alibi then get a hold of the guy where there are no witnesses. To ensure you don't get hurt carry a CO2 fire extinguisher.
Here we go. Shoot him in the face with the extinguisher temporarily stunning and blinding him then hit him with it.
Proceed to giving him a good kicking. Make sure you don't go too far. killing him of rendering him with a serious injury invariably involves plod. We don't want to go there. Once kicking is administered threated to chop up his parents, wife, kids and pets then dig up his grandparents if plod visits your door or if anything is mentioned to line management. He should tow the line thereafter.

What do you mean by "contract basis"? Were you a payroll employee or an agency or third party contractor. Unfortunately, you do not seem to meet the eligibility criteria for an unfair dismissal claim based on your length of service.

I was a limited company supplying my services.

Yes I was completely serious about my car. The trouble is I did not witness it.

And for the cherry on the cake, I am in the Nuclear industry. We are supposed to set standards for excellence, profesionalism and safety, and this is the crap I am dealt!

You weren't dismissed.

Your company had its contract terminated.

Has it's limitations mind you. What your missing with that post is a twinkle in my eyes, a cheeky grin and the mischievious tone of my voice.

You don't need to see a crime to be able to report it.
