and 335 quid. At court today For 108 mph on the M40. Loads of mitigating circumstances...
gonna miss driving, had a great "last drive" roof off last night just in case.
Any tips on using public transport!?![]()
cheers,

I'd say you got off very lightly.
I'm not judging, just making an observation.
between junction 11 and 12 was actually mid morning in spring amazingly clear very light traffic great conditions going for a work meeting. got no points just the 14 days and fine.
Oh well, my work are forcing me to take the time as holiday as I need to drive hundreds of miles daily to do my job...

How where you caught if you dont mind me asking?
Pity you don't work for the Manchester Police ... (I think this was the guy let off for a similar infraction on the M6 Toll Road recently).
Why can't they enforce the rules evenly? It differs from court to court. If you got banned then why don't other people? Unfair.
14 days isn't too bad - maybe go on holiday? Can you work from home or commute via public transport? (I went on a bus recently into my local town to collect the car from the garage - scarey - big old Double Decker doing 40mph down suburban housing estate roads).

Can one opt or ask to be disqualified for 14 days and pay a fine, rather than recive points?
I represent a fair number of punters who face traffic prosecutions.
I usually ask for short disqualifications when representing a new driver. These newbies would be forced to retake the driving test if six points are reached in the first two years.
A short ban avoids the points and negates the risk of having to take the retest.

was caught by a hand held laser thingy was in a stream of very light traffic all cruising around the ton he was waiting out of view bottom of slight hill, bend (for a motorway) and just picked me out didn't really panic slam on my brakes too much as had cars behind etc thought if in a stream of traffic not so bad. but basically saw him at last minute.
I would have much preferred six points actually as I don't have any others and this has caused loads of inconvenience at work and have been forced to use my holiday but have no chance to make use of it go anywhere...
Oh well, I broke a speed limit designed in an era when cars shook, rattled and were screaming towards their red lines of their 4 speed boxes above 70mph!!
all depends whether the magistrate gets out the right side of bed in the morning as the court usher said to me today.

About 5 years ago I got caught doing 102 on the A303 early one Saturday morning in my speedy Mercedes 190.
I got banned for 7 days and received a £250 fine.
None of this was hard to swallow at the time, I was living and working in London so used the tube every day, and £250 can be absorbed easily enough... The worst has been my insurance. Insurance companies want to know 5 years of history when assessing your insurability, and being a young guy with a reasonable car, and a ban on your record, even for as short as 7 days, hikes up your premium for years. Only now is it back to 'normal' levels.
You could also do what I did, go right out and buy a radar/laser detector!
Best of luck,
Andy

Been using public transport (buses) in oxford for the past week, am well impressed
Oxford = worst in survey by CalorGas of towns surveyed for air pollution.....about 2.5 times worse than M1 Tinsley viaduct, an area that has the greenies in a constant state of panic and jumping up and down.........!

Strange, mine was about 6 years ago when I was 22. I got another sp30 and 3 points when I was 23, yet in the past 5 years I've owned an MR2 Turbo, NSX and Cerbera without any insurance hassles. Never paid more than £1400, which I didn't think was too bad!
