Further to threads about confiscating cars from nuisance drivers and even crushing cars for no road tax:

Does anyone have the figures for how many "Travellers" vehicles have been confiscated/crushed for behaviour ranging from no insurance, through disturbing the locals to criminal damage of the sites they invade.

The figures for what percentage are still left on the road will suffice if smaller.

I'll bet none because of the potential backlash from these folk.

People are frightened of them and they have no respect for the law, other folk or other folk's property.

If they're on a road...they'll get sorted...

I believe the BBC's TRAFFIC COPS program earlier in the year showed footage of a 'Traveller' and his wife getting stopped on a dual carraigeway and the car seized as he had no insurance...

Im fairly certain the same program showed a police traffic car chasing a stolen car into a travellers camp - where the driver did a runner.

The police were so scared of confrontation they grabbed the stolen car and drove it and themselves out of the camp at warp 9!!

They never went back to find the driver....

Hers how it works (from experiences of colleagues).

Plod impound stolen pikey caravan/truck etc.
Because of the way the world works, it gets impounded in a private recovery firms yard.
Recovery firms get visit from angry pikeys who make various threats.
Pikey motor gets released.

Ah - justice?

One or the other! Sensible operators go for option 1 - we`re not paid to be heroes.

Nope..that's not how it went..I thought they arrested the driver..but the mob were trying to lynch him...the lone traffic bobby probably saved the scrote's life by keeping him in the police car..

A decent police dog would have been an asset...I've had dealings with prize winning bare knuckle fighters who wont fight a police dog....
